Blueberry Cream Cheese Puff Pastry Recipe

Blueberry Cream Cheese Puff Pastry

A flaky, buttery puff pastry filled with luscious cream cheese and sweet blueberries. Perfect for brunch or an afternoon treat, this recipe is simple yet impressive.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 sheets store-bought puff pastry, thawed
  • 8 ounces (225g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) water
  • Flour for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and creamy.
  3. Lightly flour your work surface and roll out the puff pastry sheets to smooth them out. Cut them into 4×4 inch (10x10cm) squares.
  4. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture onto the center of each pastry square. Top with 5-6 blueberries.
  5. Fold the corners of the pastry toward the center to create a pinwheel shape, or leave them open for a rustic look. Press gently to seal.
  6. Beat the egg with water to create an egg wash. Brush it lightly over the pastries.
  7. Transfer the pastries to the prepared baking sheets and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
  8. Let the pastries cool for a few minutes before serving. They’re best enjoyed warm.

Notes

Work quickly to keep the puff pastry cold. Avoid overfilling to prevent leaks during baking. Experiment with different shapes for variety.
