Old-Fashioned Strawberry Milkshake

old-fashioned strawberry milkshake

This old-fashioned strawberry milkshake is a creamy, nostalgic treat made with fresh strawberries, vanilla ice cream, and a touch of sugar. Perfect for summer afternoons or a retro diner experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (150g) fresh strawberries, washed and hulled
  • 2 cups (300g) vanilla ice cream
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) whole milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar (optional, to taste)
  • Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
  • Maraschino cherry (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Wash and hull 1 cup (150g) of fresh strawberries. If they’re not super sweet, sprinkle them with 1 teaspoon of sugar and let them sit for 5-10 minutes to macerate.
  2. In your blender, combine the strawberries, 2 cups (300g) of vanilla ice cream, 1/2 cup (120ml) of whole milk, and 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Blend until smooth and creamy. If it’s too thick, add a splash more milk and blend again.
  3. Taste your milkshake and adjust the sweetness if needed. Add a little more sugar or strawberries depending on your preference.
  4. Pour the milkshake into a tall glass. Top with whipped cream and a cherry if desired. For an extra fun touch, garnish with a fresh strawberry on the rim of the glass.

Notes

For an extra-thick milkshake, freeze your milk and strawberries beforehand. Use chilled glasses to keep the milkshake cold longer. Adjust the consistency by adding more or less milk.
