Blackberry Cream Cheese Rolls

Soft, pillowy rolls filled with tangy blackberries and creamy cream cheese, perfect for brunch or a sweet indulgence.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (240 ml) warm milk
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons (one packet) active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons (30 g) granulated sugar
  • 3 1/2 cups (440 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup (56 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 8 ounces (225 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/3 cup (65 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (150 g) blackberries
  • 1 cup (120 g) powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, active dry yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add flour, softened butter, egg, and salt. Mix until a dough forms. Knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
  3. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Fold in blackberries gently.
  4. Punch down the risen dough and roll it into a 12×18-inch rectangle. Spread the cream cheese filling evenly over the surface.
  5. Roll the dough tightly into a log, starting from the long edge. Slice into 12 equal rolls and arrange them in a greased baking dish.
  6. Cover the rolls and let them rise for 30-45 minutes until puffed.
  7. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Combine powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make the glaze. Drizzle over the warm rolls.

Notes

Use room-temperature cream cheese and butter for a smoother filling. Avoid overstuffing the rolls to prevent leakage during baking. Tent with foil if the rolls brown too quickly.
