Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (600g) fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon (7g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon (1g) cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup (50g) sliced almonds
  • 1/2 cup (115g) cold unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9-inch baking dish lightly with butter or cooking spray.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine strawberries, granulated sugar, lemon juice, and 1 tablespoon of flour. Stir gently until coated.
  3. In another bowl, mix 1 cup of flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and sliced almonds. Cut in cold butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Spread the strawberry filling evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle the crumble topping over the strawberries, ensuring an even layer.
  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the strawberry filling is bubbling.
  7. Let the crumble cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a splash of vanilla extract to the filling. If using frozen strawberries, thaw and drain them first to avoid excess liquid. Leftovers taste even better the next day as the flavors deepen.
